Softball Game Preview: Traverse City West Titans vs. Traverse City Central Trojans

The Traverse City West Titans will square off against the Traverse City Central Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Traverse City West gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 14-9 victory over Big Rapids. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

Grace Shedlock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Traverse City West got a massive performance out of Delaney Witkop, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Witkop a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kapri Wilson, who went 4-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Traverse City West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Traverse City Central had just enough and edged out Coopersville 9-8 on Thursday.

Traverse City Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Traverse City West, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
