Basketball Recap: Leland Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Leland, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the DePue Little Giants by a score of 60-49 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 66-48 back in December of 2024.

DePue's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vance Hayes, who posted 21 points. That was a full 42.9% of DePue's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Martin Quintana, who scored 14 points.

Leland's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for DePue, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.

Leland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-44 victory against Hiawatha on the 1st. As for DePue, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-41 loss against Earlville on the 1st.
