Football Game Preview: Green Valley Gators vs. Spring Valley Grizzlies

The Green Valley Gators and the Spring Valley Grizzlies will compete for holiday cheer at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Spring Valley took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Green Valley, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Green Valley turned things around against Canyon Springs on Friday. Everything went their way against the Pioneers as they made off with a 27-6 win.

A big part of Green Valley's victory came down to the chemistry between Gabi Padilla and her top target Lyla Baxter. Padilla threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81% of her passes while Baxter picked up 145 receiving yards and two touchdowns. That's the most receiving touchdowns Baxter has posted since back in November of 2023.

Green Valley's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Kylie Mckeon was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks herself. Green Valley is 2-1 when Mckeon posts two or more sacks, but 0-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Spring Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 14-7 to Amplus Academy.

Spring Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Green Valley, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6.

Green Valley took their victory against Spring Valley in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 26-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Green Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
