Economedes hasn't had much luck against Weslaco recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Economedes Jaguars challenge the Weslaco Panthers at 7:30 p.m.
Economedes is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against La Joya on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Economedes lost 58-37 to La Joya. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Economedes might have lost, but man, Aniel Solis was a machine: he went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Solis a new career-high in points. Jayden Reta was another key player, putting up seven points.
Even though they lost, Economedes was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Joya only racked up two assists.
Meanwhile, Weslaco entered their tilt with Edinburg on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They escaped with a win against the Bobcats by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54.
Weslaco's win came from a few key players Economedes will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Pete Cantu, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kai L Fino, who posted 13 points and six boards.
Weslaco pushed their record up to 22-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Economedes, they now have a losing record at 15-16.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Economedes has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Weslaco struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
