Basketball Game Preview: Brewer Bears vs. Monterey Plainsmen

The Brewer Bears will square off against the Monterey Plainsmen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Brewer comes in on five and Monterey on four.

Brewer is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Everman by a score of 53-43. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Monterey blew past Burges, posting a 91-52 victory. The Plainsmen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 25 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Brewer better keep an eye on Aaliyah Chavez. She was instrumental in Monterey's win, going 7-for-12 from beyond the arc en route to 45 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. Chavez's evening made it 37 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Ambrosia Cole was another key player, going 11-for-24 on her way to 29 points along with five assists and four steals.

Monterey's win bumped their record up to 33-5. As for Brewer, their victory bumped their record up to 26-9.
