Baseball Recap: Jefferson Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Jefferson came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Musselman Applemen get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Sam Hefner was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Andrew Rolfe also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Jefferson pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Musselman, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Jefferson and Musselman should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps West Virginia Rankings. The Cougars will take on Greenbrier East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (1 vs. 32). Meanwhile, Musselman (ranked 46th) will meet GVCS Broadfording (ranked 214th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
