The Johnson Warriors will face off against the Armijo Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Johnson has five straight wins, Armijo has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Johnson's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over Burbank. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Angelene Gonzales and Anissa Zavala made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Gonzales struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Zavala pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gonzales got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Zavala got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Munoz, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, seven stolen bases, and five runs. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Leticia Gonzales was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Johnson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Armijo fell victim to Fairfield and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 31-0 to the Falcons.
Johnson's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Armijo, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
Johnson got the 'W' in their previous meeting on April 8th against Armijo by a conclusive 32-0 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
