The Immaculate Mustangs will face off against the Lakeview Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Monday, Immaculate got the win against Weston by a conclusive 7-1.
Maddie Costa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Costa was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laurel Pucci, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten games. Jackie Pickering also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Lakeview entered their tilt with Housatonic on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Mountaineers. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Hadley Casey was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Riley Sauvageau, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Lakeview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Housatonic only posted an OBP of .211.
Immaculate's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Lakeview, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Immaculate hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Lakeview struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
