Softball Recap: Gaylord Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

While Gaylord's win against Petoskey wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Northmen on Tuesday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Northmen recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Aubrey Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 19 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Nora Bethuy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Wangler, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Gaylord's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Petoskey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 26-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Gaylord beat Petoskey by a score of 11-8 later that day.
