Softball Recap: Burrillville Gets the Win

Burrillville came out on top against Scituate on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Broncos took their contest against the Spartans 6-1. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered an 8-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lilyana Giguere spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Samia Shakan was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Avery Bousquet also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Burrillville now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Scituate, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Burrillville is taking a road trip to square off against Mt. Hope on Monday. As for Scituate, they will host East Greenwich at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Avengers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
