Basketball Recap: Conifer's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

After flying high against Jefferson last Tuesday, Conifer came back down to earth. The Conifer Lobos fell 47-35 to the Village Mountaineers on Wednesday. The matchup marked the Lobos' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Village to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Sterk, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. The game was Sterk's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Driggers, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

With the loss, Conifer broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3. As for Village, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conifer will head out to face off against Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Village, they are taking a road trip to challenge La Junta at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
