Volleyball Game Preview: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Layton Lancers

After both having extra time off, the Corner Canyon Chargers and the Layton Lancers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Corner Canyon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Corner Canyon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Syracuse, who was ranked ninth at the time (Corner Canyon was ranked third). The Chargers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Titans last Thursday.

Corner Canyon not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Syracuse between 17 and 20 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-20, 25-17.

Corner Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Player #10, who had nine digs and two assists.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Layton, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Farmington on Tuesday.

Layton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.

Corner Canyon's win bumped their record up to 21-6. As for Layton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-19.
