Baseball Recap: Williamsburg Takes a Loss

Williamsburg extended their losing streak to 11 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They fell 15-10 to the Barbourville Tigers. Even if the Yellow Jackets couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Kelly Wells made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Jones, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

As for Barbourville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.

On Barbourville's side, the team relied heavily on Conor West, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs West has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Tyler Carr, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Looking ahead, Williamsburg will square off against Corbin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Barbourville, they will take on Jackson County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
