Basketball Game Preview: East Mecklenburg Eagles vs. Central Cabarrus Vikings

Having just played yesterday, the East Mecklenburg Eagles will get right back to it and host the Central Cabarrus Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

East Mecklenburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 78-33 win over Garinger. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won four matches in a row.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Central Cabarrus' strategy against East Rowan on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Central Cabarrus blew East Rowan out of the water with a 70-39 final score. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 599th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central Cabarrus' win came from a few key players East Mecklenburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Infinite Morrow, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 boards. Another player making a difference was Kevonta' Martin, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds.

The win got Central Cabarrus back to even at 9-9. As for East Mecklenburg, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
