Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is James Clemens' Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After losing to Austin the last time they met, James Clemens decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Jets walked away with a 7-4 win over the Black Bears on Saturday.

Will Votroubek looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, James Clemens saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Congo, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Congo a new career-high. Matthew Drinkwater was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

James Clemens is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Austin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 17 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-23 record this season.

James Clemens will be playing at home against Priceville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Jets are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Austin, they will venture away from home to take on East Limestone at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
