The Gordon Lee Trojans will challenge the Dade County Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Gordon Lee against Chattooga as the team secured a 48-21 victory. With the Trojans ahead 34-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Dustin Day was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 140 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. Landon Norton also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Norton, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dade County). They really took it to Armuchee for the full four quarters, racking up a 34-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.
Dade County found their leader in sophomore Win Garmany, who threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also punched in two rushing scores.
Dade County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hayden Dunn and Evan Avans.
Gordon Lee's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Dade County, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Gordon Lee has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 223.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Dade County, though, as they've been averaging only 43.8 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Gordon Lee strolled past Dade County in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 19-0. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
