Basketball Recap: Labette County Grizzlies vs. Buhler Crusaders

Labette County and Buhler squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Labette County had to settle for second. They fell 56-51 to the Crusaders. The Grizzlies were not able to make up for their defeat to the Crusaders from their previous meeting back in March of 2015.

Loss or not, Labette County got some senior leadership from Landry Obrien and Jayden Davis. Obrien posted 27 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Davis had seven points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Davis. Amery Baker was another key player, putting up eight points.

Buhler got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Voss out in front who shot 63% from the field to rack up 12 points. Those 63% shooting accuracy gave Voss a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracie Oard, who scored 11 points and three steals.

Labette County's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Buhler, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-4.

Labette County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buhler, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-30 loss against Wellington on the 14th.
