Softball Recap: E.E. Smith Comes Up Short

E.E. Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 23-5 to the Overhills Jaguars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Bulls of the 17-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Maya Florido was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Keziah Speller also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

E.E. Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Overhills, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Overhills beat E.E. Smith by a score of 14-2 on Friday.
