Recap: Briggsdale Falcons vs. Idalia Wolves
The Briggsdale Falcons put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 58-46 win over Idalia. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Briggsdale also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
It was another big night for Jenna Krise, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Briggsdale's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayl Klem, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Idalia lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylyn Kechter. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Kechter continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Krista Wieser was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Idalia were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Briggsdale's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Idalia, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Briggsdale and Stratton will face off at 3:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Stratton's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Briggsdale's offense will have their work cut out for Briggsdale. After both having extra time off, Idalia and St. Francis will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 4:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
