Baseball Recap: Papillion-Lavista South Now 15-2 over Last 17 Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Millard South, Papillion-LaVista South was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Westview Wolverines 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Matthew Gorman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gorman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Brady Alderson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Emmett Minderman, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Griffin Minderman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Papillion-LaVista South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westview only posted a batting average of .083.

Papillion-LaVista South is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Westview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Papillion-LaVista South is set to square off against their familiar foe Millard North at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.1, the Mustangs 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Westview will face off against rival Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy on Thursday.
