Basketball Recap: Sumner-Fredericksburg Comes Up Short

Sumner-Fredericksburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Hardin Tigers. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

South Hardin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adeline Cook, who posted ten points. Ava Salvo was another key player, putting up six points and ten rebounds.

Sumner-Fredericksburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for South Hardin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.

Sumner-Fredericksburg will square off against Waukon at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Waukon will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Sumner-Fredericksburg surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Hardin, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the South Hardin Tigers duke it out with the AGWSR Cougars at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
