The Frontier Titans will head out to challenge the Clovis North Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Frontier is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Lincoln on Friday. The matchup between the Titans and the Hornets didn't end well, with the Titans falling 31-14. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Hornets are ranked ninth).
Frontier might have lost, but man, Talen Mather was a machine: he rushed for 117 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Clovis North put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past San Ramon Valley 43-14. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won three games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Frontier better keep an eye on J R Cruz. He was instrumental in Clovis North's win, rushing for 222 yards and three scores while picking up 13.1 yards per carry. Cruz is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 120 every time he's taken the field this season. Tyree Sams did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 80 receiving yards.
Clovis North was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 386 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Clovis North's defense made their presence known, laying out Cole Dawes. four times. Cooper Haydock refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in San Ramon Valley's side was Haydock, who picked up 1.5 sacks, made six total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Frontier's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-3. As for Clovis North, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Frontier was dealt a bruising 49-12 loss at the hands of Clovis North in their previous meeting back in November of 2016. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
