Softball Game Preview: Yulee Hornets vs. West Florida Jaguars

The Yulee Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the West Florida Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Yulee has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Yulee heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Tuesday. They fell just short of West Nassau by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hornets have suffered against the Warriors since March 9, 2018.

Yulee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Martyn, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, West Florida had just enough and edged out South Walton 4-3 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

Abby Cogdill spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Macey Vegas, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kya Romero, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

West Florida's win bumped their record up to 14-12. As for Yulee, they moved to 13-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
