Softball Recap: Kettle Run Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Battlefield, Kettle Run was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Brentsville District Tigers by a score of 11-6. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Aaliyah Alexander spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Kettle Run let Abi Martin and Emerson Golden run wild. Martin got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Golden went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was Golden's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Knight, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Kettle Run lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2025.

Kettle Run's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Brentsville District, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
