Baseball Recap: Medford Wins Going Away Against Everett

Medford won the last time they faced Everett and things went their way on Monday too. The Mustangs blew past the Crimson Tide 12-3.

Travers Moodie made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has become a key player for Medford: the team is 8-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise. Moodie was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Wright, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Morando, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Medford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Everett only managed seven hits.

Medford is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Everett, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Medford has already played their next contest, a 9-6 victory against Lynn English on the 21st. As for Everett, they will face off against Malden at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
