Baseball Recap: Spring Mountain Eagles vs. Indian Springs Thunderbirds
Spring Mountain extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 6-11 in the process. They lost 16-1 to the Indian Springs Thunderbirds. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-3 on Tuesday.
As for Indian Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Indian Springs, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Indian Springs' part, Aiden Molina made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Molina has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Gourley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
