Softball Recap: Oil City Oilers vs. Franklin Knights
Oil City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against the Franklin Knights, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-3 on Wednesday.
Shalyn Whittemore was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Oil City's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Franklin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oil City will face off against Jamestown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Muskies' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Oilers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Franklin, they will take on Rocky Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
