Baseball Recap: Chatham Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Chatham waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Rensselaer Rams. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 back in April.

Thomas Pierro and Cooper Steltz were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Pierro pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Steltz struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Pierro also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chatham is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. At bat, Pierro got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs, while Steltz went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Pierro is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

In other batting news, Bronson Haner and Owen Wilber did most of the damage at the plate: Haner went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Wilber got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Haner has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Liam Cowhig was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Chatham's record now sits at 6-8. As for Rensselaer, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9.
