Recap: Marion-Franklin Red Devils vs. Independence 76ers

The Marion-Franklin Red Devils entered their tilt with the Independence 76ers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Marion-Franklin came out on top against Independence by a score of 74-65 on Monday. Given Marion-Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while Independence is ranked 770th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marion-Franklin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terry Black, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Black is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makhi Ali, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.

Marion-Franklin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Independence, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.

Marion-Franklin won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against West at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Independence, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Africentric Early College at 7:00 p.m.
