The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks will face off against the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Desert Oasis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Desert Oasis fell victim to Centennial and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Bulldogs. The Diamondbacks have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Desert Oasis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Veyda Simon, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Southeast Career Tech came tearing into Thursday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Grizzlies an 11-0 shutout. The Roadrunners' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.
Laila Esparza made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Neveah Fuller was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Bella Lemus was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Southeast Career Tech lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Southeast Career Tech's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Desert Oasis, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7-1.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Oasis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Southeast Career Tech struggles in that department as they've averaged .421. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
