Softball Recap: Del Valle Beats Hanks for Their Fourth Straight Win

Del Valle had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Hanks Knights. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 23-5 win two weeks ago.

The team relied heavily on Briyana Medina, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Gutierrez, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Medina wasn't the only one making solid contact: Del Valle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Conquistadores are 15-1-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Del Valle's win bumped their record up to 21-10-2. As for Hanks, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-12-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, Del Valle and Hanks will both be playing El Dorado the next time they take the field. The Knights will host the Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Conquistadores will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
