Baseball Recap: Archbishop Ryan Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Neshaminy, Archbishop Ryan was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They skirted past the Devon Prep Tide 4-2. The Raiders and Ragdolls have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tide, too.

Sean Cahill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Archbishop Ryan's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 6-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Archbishop Ryan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Marchesano, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Marchesano has posted since back in May of 2024.

Archbishop Ryan's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Devon Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Ryan will challenge Neumann-Goretti at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Raiders and Ragdolls' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Devon Prep, they will face off against Roman Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
