Basketball Recap: Herscher Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Herscher lost to Watseka back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Herscher Tigers managed a 56-52 win over the Watseka Warriors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Herscher to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austin Buckley, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 20 points. Buckley is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Tanner Jones, who posted 11 points and seven boards.

Herscher's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14. As for Watseka, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Herscher Tigers challenge the Wilmington Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Watseka, they will square off against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Watseka likes a good challenge.
