Volleyball Recap: Pikeville Starts Season with Win at Home

Pikeville took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Johnson Central Golden Eagles by a score of 3-1. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Lindy Gearheart had a dynamite game, getting 16 digs, four aces, and one block. She has been hot for a while, having also posted 16 or more assists the last 19 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maria Perez, who had 17 digs and two aces.

Johnson Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pikeville will welcome East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Johnson Central, they will challenge Floyd Central at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
