Volleyball Recap: Gate City Blue Devils vs. Carroll County Cavaliers

On Saturday, the Gate City Blue Devils narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Carroll County Cavaliers 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Gate City took Carroll County into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-9, 20-25, 15-25, 15-10.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gate City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Georgia Griffis, who had 13 digs, two aces, and a kill. That's the most aces Griffis has posted since back in October of 2023. Sophie Webb was another key player, getting five digs and four aces.

Gate City kept the net locked down and finished the game with ten blocks. That's the most blocks they've managed all season.

Gate City's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Carroll County, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gate City will play host again on Tuesday to welcome Ridgeview, where the match is scheduled at 6:00 p.m. Ridgeview will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Gate City surely won't give up without a fight. As for Carroll County, they will square off against Pulaski County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Carroll County is facing Pulaski County at the right time seeing as Pulaski County is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
