Baseball Recap: North Marion's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

North Marion dropped their record down to 9-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Polar Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-6 last Wednesday.

As for Fairmont Senior, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games.

For Fairmont Senior's part, Brayden Gorby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. Gorby has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fairmont Senior saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Sammons, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another was Logan Canfield, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Marion will take on John Marshall at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairmont Senior, they will face off against Elkins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
