St. Dominic and Fort Zumwalt East pushed the score to 17-6 the last time they played Fort Zumwalt East, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Crusaders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Lions. Winning may never get old, but the Crusaders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The result came thanks to Alex Alsop's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, St. Dominic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Swindler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
St. Dominic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-9-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games.
