Volleyball Game Preview: Philomath Warriors vs. Astoria Fishermen

Philomath has gone a perfect 4-0 against Astoria recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Fishermen at 9:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Philomath heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Friday. They fell 3-1 to Cascade. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The final score came out to 25-19, 16-25, 25-23, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Astoria didn't have quite enough to beat Marist on Friday and fell 3-2.

Astoria wouldn't go down easily and took Marist into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-7, 25-27, 21-25, 15-9.

Philomath's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Astoria, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Philomath skirted past Astoria 2-1 in their previous meeting back in September. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Fishermen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
