Baseball Recap: Jones Comes Up Short

Jones was the 9-2 winner over Chicago Washington when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly four runs.

Ellis Alexander was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Madden Asbaty was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Jones and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Chicago Washington, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.

Coming up, Jones will take on Brooks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Brooks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. Chicago Washington will be paying especially close attention to Jones' match: after Jones faces off against the Eagles, they'll take on Chicago Washington again at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
