Baseball Game Preview: South Spencer Rebels vs. Evansville Memorial Tigers

The South Spencer Rebels will head out on the road to square off against the Evansville Memorial Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Evansville Memorial took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on South Spencer, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, South Spencer sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over North Daviess.

Beau Heck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Spencer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Denver Epperson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Logan Trone also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Evansville Memorial unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Vincennes Lincoln by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered against the Alices since June 1, 2019.

Evansville Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for South Spencer, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

South Spencer might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Evansville Memorial in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
