Softball Recap: Staples-Motley Victorious

Staples-Motley took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Park Rapids, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cardinals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Panthers on Tuesday. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 14-1 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Staples-Motley let Oliviah Lorber and Jade Storry run wild. Lorber went 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Storry went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave Lorber a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Kossan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Staples-Motley's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Park Rapids, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Staples-Motley will take on rival Hawley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Park Rapids is set to square off against their familiar foe Barnesville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
