Volleyball Recap: Cuero Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Cuero came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins, and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Great Hearts Northern Oaks Griffins.

Cuero was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-15, 25-23.

Jessa Cox paced Cuero's offense, picking up 14 kills. Cox got some help from Aleciara Smallwood and her 18 assists. Smallwood also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ava Perez, racking up four apiece.

Great Hearts Northern Oaks' loss wasn't for lack of effort from Elizabeth Paulos: she had 25 digs in a losing cause. Another player making a difference was Rachel Loden, who had 11 digs and eight assists.

Cuero has now won 13 of their last 15 games on the road. That gives them a 28-8 record this season. As for Great Hearts Northern Oaks, they are now 8-14, having gone 2-1 since their six-game losing streak ended.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cuero is set to take on their familiar foe Floresville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Great Hearts Northern Oaks will face off against their in-conference opponent Gonzales at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
