The Clinton Prairie Gophers will square off against the Danville Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Clinton Prairie's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Danville has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
Clinton Prairie will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Benton Central, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Gophers never let the Bison get on the board and left with a 23-0 win on Monday. The contest marked the Gophers' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Jackson Price made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those hits marked the first that he got this season.

In other batting news, Alex King and Malachi Corbin did most of the damage at the plate: King went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Corbin scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Corbin a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Kyle Harshbarger, who scored three runs and stole two bases.
Clinton Prairie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benton Central only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Danville came up short against Crawfordsville on Wednesday and fell 8-5.
Like Clinton Prairie, Danville also got a great game from a two-way player: Kole Miller. He struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Mason Shipley and Ethan Wooten did some serious damage despite the final result: Shipley scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Wooten got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
Danville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Clinton Prairie, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
