CHICAGO, Ill. -
Mount Carmel (Chicago, Ill.) snapped the four-game winning streak of
St. Rita (Chicago, Ill.), with a 24-3 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Matt Domer in the first quarter, the Caravan led 14-0 at the half.
Mount Carmel expanded its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. MC scored once in the quarter on a field goal by
Zach Mirabelli.
With the win the Caravan extended their winning streak to five games. Mount Carmel defeated Brother Rice 28-20 last week.
Mount Carmel avenged last year's 17-7 loss to the Mustangs with the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for St. Rita, which notched a 42-12 victory over Hales Franciscan in its previous outing.
In a Chicago Catholic - Blue game next week St. Rita (4-1) takes on Providence Catholic, and Mount Carmel (5-0) will go up against Loyola Academy also in a Chicago Catholic - Blue game.
