Baseball Recap: Stewarts Creek Now 9-3 over Last 12 Games

Stewarts Creek won the last time they faced LaVergne and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Red Hawks were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Wolverines. That looming 12-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Red Hawks yet this season.

Jeff Moran looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Stewarts Creek let Shawn Rhodes and Tyler Huskey run wild. Rhodes scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Huskey scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Rhodes a new career-high. Easton Young was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Stewarts Creek has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for LaVergne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stewarts Creek will host Coffee County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for LaVergne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Providence Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
