Softball Recap: Desert Gets the Win

While Desert's win against Boron wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Scorpions had just enough and edged out the Bobcats 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Scorpions in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won four in a row.

Alayna Phillips spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Desert's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Boron, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert will host Silver Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Scorpions are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Boron, they will square off against California City at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
