Softball Game Preview: Hughson Huskies vs. Orestimba Warriors

The Hughson Huskies are taking a road trip to square off against the Orestimba Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hughson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Hughson will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Escalon, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Huskies came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Kylie Tangney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hughson's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Summer Leshko, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Orestimba waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Indians.

Orestimba also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Hailey Starr gave up a run (which was unearned) on six hits.

Hughson's victory bumped their record up to 11-6-1. As for Orestimba, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.

Hughson skirted past Orestimba 2-0 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
