Basketball Preview: Elkhorn Valley Falcons vs. Cedar Catholic Trojans
The Elkhorn Valley Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Cedar Catholic Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Elkhorn Valley is ranked 91st, while the Trojans are ranked 101st).
Last Monday, Elkhorn Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-54 to the Cougars. Elkhorn Valley has struggled against the Cougars recently, as their game on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Elkhorn Valley got a solid performance out of Jj Black, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Black is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last seven games she's played. Karlee Broberg was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Elkhorn Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Niobrara/Verdigre only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Cedar Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 57-47 to Norfolk Catholic.
Elkhorn Valley's record now sits at 10-6. Cedar Catholic's record is now 8-8.
