Basketball Recap: Walkertown Comes Up Short

Walkertown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 27th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the North Forsyth Vikings, falling 57-21. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while the Vikings are ranked 290th).

North Forsyth had a senior duo take command as Jylyia Mizell posted 30 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals and Ariel Odugba dropped a double-double on 11 points and 21 boards. What's more, Mizell also racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Nakiya Gause, who earned six points.

Walkertown's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for North Forsyth, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Walkertown will head out on the road to face off against McMichael at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Forsyth has already played their next contest (against West Stokes), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
