Soccer Recap: Avenal Takes a Loss

Avenal lost against Mendota back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Avenal Buccaneers fell 3-1 to the Mendota Aztecs. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 560th, while the Aztecs are ranked 104th).

Avenal's loss dropped their record down to 16-6-5. As for Mendota, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avenal will challenge Tranquillity at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mendota, they will square off against Firebaugh at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Mendota's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Firebaugh has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road.
